Origin Story
St. Brigid of Ireland is remembered as the Mary of the Gaels, a woman of charity, strength, and blessing who became beloved for her care for the poor and for the holiness of her life. Catholics turn to her for home protection, generosity, and the grace to live with warmth and faith.
Instructions
Many Catholics prepare for her feast by praying this novena from January 23 through January 31, the eve of her feast on February 1.
The Fisheaters page highlights her charity, association with fire and light, and her patronage of homes, infants, midwives, and students.
Pray the same St. Brigid prayer each day and ask her to bless the ordinary life of your home with peace and Christian generosity.
It is especially fitting for households, mothers, children, students, and anyone asking for protection from danger or harm.

Day 1 of 9
Not marked complete yet.
Day 1: Charity
Ask St. Brigid for a heart that gives freely to God and neighbor.
Daily Prayer
O glorious St. Brigid, friend of Christ and mother of the poor, obtain for me a heart full of holy charity, a home guarded by God's peace, and a generous spirit that knows how to give. Teach me to love Christ in prayer, in service, and in the hidden duties of daily life. Pray that my home may be protected from every harm, that those entrusted to me may grow in faith and innocence, and that I may one day praise God with thee in Heaven. Amen.
