Origin Story
This short Christmas novena belongs to the older devotional habit of preparing directly for the Nativity during the final days of Advent. Its daily invocations echo the Church's ancient titles for the Messiah and place the soul in a spirit of longing, readiness, and reverence as Christmas approaches.
Instructions
Traditionally prayed from December 16 through December 24 in immediate preparation for the Nativity of Our Lord.
This form fits especially well with the Church's final Advent longing and can be prayed alongside the O Antiphons from December 17 through December 23.
Each day consists of the invocation for that date followed by one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be.
It may be offered for a more recollected Christmas, for family preparation, and for a deeper desire for the coming of Christ into the soul.
